Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Mit ihrem letzten Album „Howl“ hat das amerikanische Trio viele ihrer Fans überrascht, manch einen gar verschreckt. Blues, Country, Americana, sogar Gospel waren auf ihrem dritten Album an die Stelle der rauen, psychedelisch-vertrackten Songs der beiden Vorgängeralben getreten. Auf ihrer aktuellen Platte „Baby 81“ ist die Band aus San Francisco ihrem düsteren Rock’n’Roll wieder ein ganzes Stück näher gerückt.  Für ihre überragenden Liveshows heißt das, dass es auch hier ein wenig härter zugeht als noch auf ihrer letzten Tour. Die Gitarrenwände werden höher gebaut, die Drums sind druckvoller und der teils mehrstimmige Gesang von Peter Hayes und Robert Levon Been muss sich erst einen Weg durch die undurchsichtigen Songstrukturen bahnen, bevor er das Publikum findet. Nur eins hat sich auch seit „Howl“ nicht geändert und wird es wohl nie tun: das Bühnenoutfit der Band. Das ist natürlich schwarz. Und auch die obligatorische Lederjacke fehlt selbstverständlich nicht. With their last album „ Howl“ the american trio surprised , if not scared , many of their fans. Blues , Country , Americana and even Gospel replaced on there third longplayer the rough, psychedelic and tricky songs of their first two albums. On their new release „Baby 81“ the Band from San Francisco is going back again to their dark Rock’n’Roll they are known for. For BRMC’s outstanding Live performances : it will be harder then on the last tour.  The Guitar Amp walls will be higher again, the drums have more pressure and the partly multivoices vocals of Peter Hayes and Robert Levon Been will need to find their way thru the opaque songstructure before finding it’s audience.  Only one thing hasn’t changed since „Howl“ and will hopefully never do: The stageoutfit. And that is black. The obligate leatherjacket willl not be missed.
